Before you write — quick answers
A lot of incoming mail is about the same handful of questions. If yours is below, you'll get an answer faster by reading the linked guide than by waiting for a reply.
"The IP you showed me is wrong / in the wrong city."
IP geolocation is approximate. City-level accuracy on residential broadband is usually within 25–50 km, but mobile carriers, satellite links, and business connections can be off by hundreds of kilometers. We don't control the underlying database — it's maintained by third-party providers from public registry data. There's nothing we can change on our end, but you can submit a correction directly to the database your IP is registered with; our geolocation guide explains how.
"Someone is using my IP to harass me — can you remove it?"
We don't store, publish, or share IP addresses. Your IP appears only in your own browser when you load the homepage. If you're being harassed online and you believe your IP has been exposed, the right next step is to contact your ISP and, if it rises to the level of a credible threat, your local law enforcement.
"Can I republish or translate one of your articles?"
Short excerpts with attribution and a link back are fine — that's standard fair use. Full-article republication or translation requires written permission. Email us with the article URL and where you'd like to republish it and we'll usually say yes.
"Will you review my VPN / proxy / privacy tool?"
We only review products one of our contributors has personally used for at least 30 days, and we don't accept paid reviews. If you'd like us to test your product, you're welcome to send access — but we can't promise coverage or a positive write-up.
"I spotted a factual error in one of your guides."
Thank you — please send the article URL plus a one-line description of the error and, if possible, a source. We post corrections at the top of the affected article and update the publish date.
What to include in your message
To give us the best chance of helping quickly, please include:
- What you were trying to do (e.g. "verify my VPN was working", "check my home IP from work").
- The device and browser you used (e.g. "iPhone 14, Safari" or "Windows 11, Chrome 130").
- What you expected to see vs. what actually happened.
- If the issue is with a specific article, the URL of that article.
Please do not include passwords, full IP addresses you consider sensitive, or screenshots that show personal data — we don't need them and we'd rather not receive them.
